She stared at him, her eyes filled with terror.
“I don’t believe you,” she whispered. “You wouldn’t have ever done that. I know you.”
But she was not longer certain that she knew him at all. Draco could hear it in her voice.
“Silly naïve little Ginny,” Draco murmured. “What did you expect. A Malfoy who doesn’t know the Unforgivables is like a Weasley with thousands of Galleons. It doesn’t happen. Ever.”
“Tell me you never used them on anyone,” she demanded. “Tell me you never did that.”
He remained silent.
“Why?” she asked helplessly.
“It was war,” Draco replied.
