She cowered on the floor, exposed in the middle of the vast hall. Head bowed, arms wrapped protectively around herself, she looked like she was trying to melt into the floor. Her hair was straggly with the need for a bath, and her clothes were dirty and torn. The stench of fear and sickness rose from her in a wave of nausea.
The assembled mass of robes and masks were impassive.
There was one unmasked man. He was the one who walked to her with a smile that didn’t reach his cold grey eyes.
“Hello. I’m Draco Malfoy.”
