Draco’s pulse is thrumming in his throat, as though his heart is crawling up his ribcage, threatening to spill out onto the desk. He knows there’s no risk in explaining things to Harry, he really does, but he just…he doesn’t even know how to explain it to himself. Someone should just pop in the door and tell him what he’s feeling. Where’s Luna when you need her?

Draco sighs. Of course, she’d tell him that he needs to shape the thoughts himself.

“Can I…?” he begins, pauses, restarts. “Instead of the Malfoy son, can’t I just be the child?”
