“Hi, Uncle Draco!” Rose says, beaming as she steps out of the fireplace. Draco smiles, giving her a hug and brushing off soot, even as he tries to hide a wince at her phrasing. Molly is visiting an elderly family member in Cornwall, so Rose is spending time with him today.
“‘Uncle’ is unnecessary,” he finally says, hesitating for too long. Rose is already on her way to the kitchen so Kreacher can pretend that he isn’t heaping her with treats.
“Do you prefer something different?” Rose asks. “Aunt?”
“Just Draco,” Draco says. Rose nods.
“Draco,” she says, and grins.
