Draco watches Harry, the little snake coiled around his forearm, golden eyes catching the sunlight from the kitchen window. Harry looks delighted to have someone to speak Parseltongue to.
His visit back home hadn’t really helped, but he’s not sure how he expected it to. Draco’s childhood room was exactly the same; not even the salty tears he cried that awful year had left a mark. Mother was also unchanged, fragile resilience and a quiet firmness.
It was only in the gardens that Draco had felt like he could breathe, spotting that tiny opalescent head peering between the pergola’s creepers.
