Eventually, Draco and Potter left the kitchens, but not before Potter bashfully confirmed that they would be going to Hogsmeade together. Draco assured him he was looking forward to it, and he returned to the dungeons feeling much happier than he'd been when he left.

Pansy pounced on him like a rabid fanatic as soon as he stepped into the Slytherin common room. "Where have you been all night?" she demanded.

Draco wasn't going to admit anything. Instead, he went on the attack. "Waiting in that damned pumpkin patch for you!" he snapped. "Where were you all night, you slag?"
