“Our plan, Mr Malfoy, is for you to continue in your current role, but also take on the responsibilities of your boss, for no extra pay. There may be a promotion in it for you, in about eighteen months’ time.”
“You’re fucking kidding me.”
“Try to view it as an opportunity.”
Draco’s cheeks flushed scarlet with rage.
“No. I’m done. I’m leaving. Fuck you.”
“You wouldn’t—”
“Try me,” Draco sneered.
That afternoon, the Auror office exploded. Fireworks filled the room, offensively loud and bright.
In the chaos that followed, Draco slipped away. He never set foot in the Ministry again.
