“Arrogant fool.”

Draco was shocked—he couldn’t hide it. He stared at Snape, who he had been certain was a loyal Death Eater, with disbelief coloring his pale, pointed face.

“Your pride will be your end,” Snape hissed, in a towering temper, advancing on Draco with his wand out. Draco could do nothing but back away, cowering. He had never expected this—not from Snape! “You serve the Dark Lord because your father did, because it appeals to your pride—you will lose this fight, Draco.” But he didn’t hex Draco; he turned in a whirl of robes, striding away.
