By the time they’ve reached the pudding course, Draco wants to toss the trifle at the wall and beat a hasty retreat. Glancing over at Harry, he meets Karst’s golden gaze. Go ahead, the snake seems to be saying. It’s insignificant in the scheme of things.
Conversely, this makes him feel a little better, and he manages to swallow a few bites of cake and cream.
“I’ve been meaning to ask,” his mother says, “now that the papers are signed, when will you be moving back to the manor?”
Nevermind, Draco thinks. It does mean something, at least to him.
