It’s strange, leaving the university, no longer a student. Draco doesn’t feel any different, even though he now has a triple mastery in Arithmancy, Potions, and Spell-Creation tucked into his robe pocket.

“I’m sorry I can’t be there,” Harry had said earlier that morning, face particularly green in the flames.

“Don’t be absurd,” Draco had replied. “You’re injured enough to be scratched from the game.“

“But still,” Harry protests, insistent.

Maybe that’s what’s missing though. There’s no sense of celebration, just a lovely owl from his mother, some notes from his old schoolmates, and a sense of being cast adrift.
