Draco closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. "To my intense shock," he said, when Hermione returned to the sitting room, "I survived an entire party surrounded by Gryffindors."
She curled up on his lap and brushed his fringe back. "You did. I appreciate your efforts. That was an excellent way to start the new year, Malfoy." Leaning close, she whispered to him. "I believe I promised you a reward?"
"You did." He arched a brow as she slipped off his lap and pushed his knees apart. "Oh, Granger. Now this is an excellent way to start the new year."
