Draco shudders as fury’s waves crash in the depths below him. It’s been six days. He focuses on the steady drip, drip, drip of water coating his thigh -- flesh burning with contemptuous whispers. He inhales, eyes fluttering closed, surrendering to nothingness. Is this what it feels like to die?
He lingers for a while, ignoring the way his fingers tremble against the cold stone floor.
“I came back for you, Draco.”
“My knight in shining armor, eh, Potter? You always were quite fanatical about me.”
He wakes to a chasm of fog.
The cold greets him like an old friend.
